If it's a small shed, a "thermo-tube" heater should keep it warm enough to prevent it getting damp, if you're in there for any length of time, you'll need plenty of ventilation too, just breathing can cause a lot of moisture, think about when you're sat in the car on a cold day and the windows steam up.. Gordon. as both geppetto & rob have said ,air circulation is a must under your shed, but don't make it a haven for mice to nest under, believe me these little critter's will cause more damage in your shed than a small amount of moisture.. I am building a small shed (kids playhouse) and have already constructed the base see pictures below however i am not familiar with the rules when using damp proof membrane..
Hello, i'm looking for advice please on damp proofing my new (build from scratch) shed base. the shed is a lean-to building, attached to the side of the side.. Damp proofing and insulating the shed floor is very important if you want to avoid having to do regular maintenance work to the entire shed. how to insulate a shed window and door. insulating a shed door is exactly the same as the rest of the shed. apply a waterproof membrane, insulation and wooden boards.. The concrete, or slab base, should contain a damp-proof membrane (sized to the entire surface area the shed will occupy). this should be inserted below the flags, or 2 below the surface of the concrete slab. make sure that the surface of the slab, or concrete foundation, is some 2 above adjoining soil levels..
